Keep Kids Alive, Drive 25 Program

The City of San Juan Capistrano is endorsing the "Keep Kids Alive, Drive 25" program. (KKAD25). This is a national safety awareness program designed to encourage motorists to observe the residential speed limit.

Keep Kids Alive, Drive 25To deliver this message, the KKAD25 Program utilizes yard signs (18" x 24"), placed within residential neighborhoods in a concentrated area for a period of two to three weeks. To date, KKAD25 is working with contacts nationwide and word is spreading fast. Involvement can be as extensive or as limited as desired. Initial studies indicate that over 75% of drivers who drive past a KKAD25 yard sign apply their brakes and slow down.

Program guidelines and procedures for the City of San Juan Capistrano's program are as follows:

Obtain application (Obtained from the Engineering Counter at City Hall or download by clicking here).

If your neighborhood is administered by a homeowners association, obtain written approval from the HOA. If no HOA is involved, a designation of Block Captain is still necessary.

A preliminary sketch indicating the area to be covered, and possible placement points, should be attached to application. After submission, this will be finalized along with the number of signs to be used, specific dates, and duration of program with the Traffic Engineer.

Application must be signed by the designated block captain prior to submittal.
